PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

“Roll out those lazy, hazy crazy days of summer” goes the opening lyrics of a Nat King Cole song from the 60’s. Yes, summer is here, and July is the time for the

wonderful “Oldies” entertainment.

Two outstanding, nationally known groups will appear at “Jim & Jack’s on the river”. The “Shades of Blue” and the “Vogues” will perform on Saturday night, July 24th. You’ll hear such hits as “Oh How Happy” and “Five O’clock World”. Purchase your tickets now and get the best seats available for the show. Admission is only $25.00 per person, a real bargain for really great entertainment. The show starts at 9:00. You may contact “Jim & Jack’s” for ticket information at 251-7977.

CODA activities are being planned for later in the year, including our Holiday Dance. And, next month watch for a major announcement concerning your Club. I hope to see you at the show and the July social.

Keep rockin’ everyone…

Steve Gregoire

FROM YOUR SECRETARY…

First… let me apologize to anyone who attended the picnic in June. It was my duty to see that all went well and I failed. The biggest concern was the food and I think I have learned a lot from that episode. Aside from it being a beautiful setting, the band sounded great under that pavilion, and the bathrooms were close, it was pointed out to me that I should have told people to bring some lawn chairs (my bad) I thought everyone kept them in their cars. So, next time, it will be better, I hope. I appreciate all the help I did receive from my niece Miranda, her dad Billy and Butch (the cooks). Ron Miller, Mike McNutt, Evelyn for doing “split the pot”, Rita Cole. Johnny Perkins played a major part picking up the meat, hell gang, he brought the beer’ and thanks to Dave Cramer for the beer tap. Thank you Nadine for taking the kegs back. If it hadn’t been so hot, it would have been great. If I missed anyone, I apologize, but I am at that age that it’s excusable.

Second… Congratulations to Jan Stern for winning the $300.00 visa card, Marilyn Sparks a $100.00 card and Kim Keeton a $100.00 card. My daughter Renee Wooldridge and “Lucky” Lois Bracht won the “split the pots”. Congratulations to all.

Thanks to all that support CODA.

You have probably seen this guy on stage with the CODA band and others, so allow me to introduce Kenny Freeman.

Updates:

Remembering our friend and long time CODA member Bill Purificato. He passed away this month, a few days before his 70th birthday. Bill always had something to say to Rudy and Mike about the music, or records he found, and he was a big supporter of CODA. His wife and club member Christine was always at his side. Very likable person, he will be missed.

Charlie Davis, our friend from Troy Ohio, has suffered a stroke recently and according to his wife Pat, he is doing fine. He will be having some knee surgery soon.

A personal friend of mine, and club member Donna Telinda is still feeling ill and going through a battery of test to try and get well.

Our prayers go out to all and we wish them well.

Until next time, take care…

Linda Smith… Secretary
